Where to Sit: Table Positioning Guide for London Clubs
Not all tables are created equal. Your position inside the club shapes your entire night — from the energy around you to the price you pay. Here's how to choose wisely.
You've booked a table. You've sorted the dress code. You know which club you're going to. But here's something most people overlook entirely: where you sit inside the club matters enormously. The difference between a dance floor table and an elevated VIP booth isn't just price — it's a completely different night. Your table position determines the energy around you, how much interaction you have with the wider room, the level of privacy you get, and even how easily your waitress can reach you with bottles. Getting this right is one of the simplest ways to upgrade your entire experience.
Why Table Position Matters More Than You Think
Most people booking bottle service focus on the venue and the minimum spend. They assume a table is a table. It isn't. At any given club, you might have a choice between five or six distinct positions — each with a different atmosphere, a different price point, and a different kind of night. A table next to the DJ booth at Cirque Le Soir gives you front-row seats to one of London's most outrageous shows. A private booth at Tape London gives you an intimate cocoon away from the crowd. Same city, same night, completely different experiences — determined entirely by where you sit.
The Five Types of Table Position
1. Dance Floor Adjacent
These tables sit right on the edge of — or sometimes within — the dance floor area. They're the most energetic positions in the house. You're surrounded by people, the music is loudest, and there's a constant flow of movement around you. Dance floor tables are perfect if your group wants to be in the thick of the action rather than watching from above. The trade-off is less privacy and more noise — holding a conversation is genuinely difficult. For groups who are there to dance and party rather than talk, this is the position to request.
Pricing: Dance floor tables typically start at the base minimum spend — £1,000 at most Mayfair venues. They're the most accessible entry point to bottle service.
2. Elevated VIP
Elevated VIP tables are raised above the main floor, usually on a mezzanine or platform. They give you a commanding view of the entire venue — you can see the dance floor, the DJ, and the crowd below. There's an undeniable status element to sitting above the room. These tables typically have more space, better seating, and a clearer line of sight for your waitress. The atmosphere is more exclusive and slightly more relaxed, though you still feel the energy from below.
Pricing: Elevated VIP tables start from £1,500–£2,500 depending on the venue and the night. Saturday VIP positions at premium clubs can reach £3,000+. The premium is justified by the view, the space, and the exclusivity. Check our VIP tables guide for venue-specific breakdowns.
3. Booth Seating
Booths are semi-enclosed seating areas — typically U-shaped or L-shaped banquettes with a table in the centre. They offer the most privacy of any standard table position. You're shielded on two or three sides, which creates an intimate setting even in a packed club. Booths are ideal for groups who want their own space, for dates where conversation matters, or for corporate entertaining where you need to hear each other speak. The enclosed design also means your bottles and drinks feel more secure.
Pricing: Booth pricing varies. Some venues charge the same as floor tables (£1,000), while others treat them as premium positions (£1,500+). Booth availability is limited at most venues, so book early if this is your preference.
4. Stage-View Tables
At show clubs like London Reign and Cirque Le Soir, stage-view tables put you directly in front of the performers. This is where the entertainment experience is best — you see every detail of the aerial acts, the circus performers, the cabaret shows. If you're booking a show club specifically for the entertainment, a stage-view table is the only position that makes sense. Sitting at the back of Cirque and missing the performers defeats the purpose.
Pricing: Stage-view tables are typically mid-range to premium — £1,000–£2,000 depending on the venue and exact position. Front-row stage seats at Reign can command higher minimums on busy nights.
5. Private Corners
Some venues have tucked-away corners or alcoves that offer maximum seclusion. These positions are slightly removed from the main action — less energy but far more privacy. They're popular with celebrity guests, couples on special occasions, and anyone who wants bottle service without being on display. Not every club has true corner positions, but those that do often keep them as premium options.
Which Positions Cost More and Why
The pricing hierarchy at most London clubs follows a clear pattern. Floor tables are the base (typically £1,000). Booths add a slight premium for privacy. Elevated VIP adds a significant premium for status and views. The very best positions — front-row stage, owner's booth, prime elevated VIP — can be two to three times the base minimum. The premium reflects supply and demand: there are usually only two or three premium positions per venue, and they sell out first every weekend. How to Request a Specific Position
When you book through us, simply tell us what you're after. "We want to be near the stage at Cirque" or "private booth at Tape if possible" — that's all we need. We'll communicate your preference to the venue and confirm what's available. The earlier you book, the better your chances. Saturday night VIP positions can sell out two to three weeks in advance at popular venues. If your preferred position isn't available, we'll offer the closest alternative and let you decide.
Club-by-Club Positioning Guide
Cirque Le Soir: Get Near the Stage
The entire point of Cirque Le Soir is the circus performers, fire breathers, and theatrical madness. If you're sitting at the back, you're missing half the show. Request a stage-adjacent table for the full experience. The venue is intimate enough that even mid-room tables have decent sightlines, but nothing compares to being in the front row when a performer lands on the table next to you.
Tape London: Choose the Intimate Booth
Tape is a members' club with under 200 capacity. The whole venue feels exclusive, but the booths are where Tape really excels. The booth seating is designed for privacy — deep, comfortable, enclosed. This is where music industry insiders and celebrities tend to sit. If you're at Tape, you're paying a premium already (minimums from £1,500), so request a booth and get the experience the club was designed for.
London Reign: Stage View for the Shows
Reign is a large venue with Las Vegas-style production. The aerial performers, the LED shows, the dancers — it's all built around the central stage. Elevated VIP gives you a panoramic view of everything, while floor tables near the stage put you close to the action. For groups who want the show experience, stage-view is essential. For groups who want to overlook the spectacle from above, elevated VIP is worth the premium.
Cuckoo Club: Choose Your Floor
Cuckoo is a two-floor venue, and the experience on each floor is genuinely different. The ground floor is the main room — house music, more social, higher energy. The basement (The Shack) plays hip-hop, RnB, and Afrobeats with a darker, more intimate atmosphere. Your choice of floor effectively determines your music and vibe for the night. If your group has mixed tastes, this is actually an advantage — you can move between floors while keeping your table on whichever one you prefer.
When to Upgrade vs When Floor Is Fine
Not every night needs VIP. If you're a group of four to six friends looking to have a good time and dance, a standard floor table at £1,000 is excellent value. The experience is still premium — you have a table, a waitress, bottles, and guaranteed entry. Upgrade to VIP when: it's a special occasion (birthday, anniversary, celebration), you're entertaining clients, you want maximum privacy, or you specifically want the best views. The upgrade costs an extra £500–£1,500 depending on the venue, so weigh it against what matters to your group.
